The Struggles Of Stateless Girls Of Dzaleka

The story highlights the plight of stateless girls born to asylum seekers. Some of the girls came to Malawi as babies and others were born here. Even after spending as many as 20 years they are yet to be naturalised and cannot enjoy the benefits of a citizen. Many of these girls are turning into prostitution to find basic needs resulting into early marriages and teen pregnancies.  For a better understanding of the story, the report dives into the real issues the adolescent girls are facing in their everyday lives, the agony of being stateless and the limbo they are in as they turn into stateless adults and as single mothers. It also highlights how this is affecting their capabilities of being reliable human capital for the development of the country.
