Adela’s Story | Finding Hope Through God’s Word in Dzaleka Refugee Camp

This is Adela’s story.

After losing her husband to brutal violence, Adela arrived at Dzaleka with her seven children and nothing but the clothes they were wearing. For years, she clung to her faith—but without a Bible, she struggled to teach her children about God or find comfort in His Word.

That changed when Bible League partnered with local churches in the camp.

Through a Bible study freely provided by Bible League, Adela received her very first Bible. God’s Word reignited her faith, restored her hope, and transformed not only her life—but the lives of her children and other women in her community.

Today, Adela leads a Bible study for mothers in Dzaleka Refugee Camp and shares the hope of Jesus Christ with her neighbours. In a place marked by trauma and uncertainty, God’s Word is bringing comfort, healing, and lasting transformation.
